DNA Murder Mystery

Today we had a Pod activity called the “DNA Murder Mystery”. Students rotated between 3 stations to find Mr. Jones’ murderer. Station 1: Student extracted DNA from a fake blood sample (mushed strawberries). Stations 2: Students sequenced the suspects’ DNA strands using a mock gel electrophoresis. Station 3: Students observed finger prints of the suspects to match to those found at the crime scene.  Afterwards they wrote a crime report on the evidence that they collected. No make up work necessary for today. If you would like to do a DNA extraction because you were absent, here are the directions:
